I’m expecting a reaction from Atletico. They are coming from two awful performances: 2:2 draw against bottom Almeria, who is the worst team in the main leagues in whole Europe, and a solid defeat 3:0 against Athletic in the Cup, showing a poor attitude.

With Simeone as coach I’m sure that players will give their best in this game, because it’s unacceptable their recent performances, especially due to their attitude. This team has the quality to be fighting for the title and are almost out of all competitions, just fighting for the TOP4.

At home they are very strong, are the best home team in the league (12/1/0) and surely will make a better performance, especially because I expect players to be motivated.

On the other hand, Betis is suffering a huge injury crisis. During this week they had a total of 10 players injured. Some of them will be available for this match, and others are still doubtful. However, it has been very difficult for Betis to be competitive with this amount of missing players, especially because some of them are starters and important players (Isco, Bakambu, Abner, Fekir, Guido…).

However, despite the missings, coach Pellegrini is doing well and making Betis a very competitive and difficult team to beat. They are 6th in the table with only 4 defeats and 26 goals conceded, but it’s impossible for this team to compete at 100% with this amount of missing.

They have not been able to make decent trainings, and in every single game Pellegrini needs to make some change in the lineup, put players in different positions, and change the tactics. They are using the 2nd or 3rd option in many positions in the lineup, and this decreases the level of the team a lot.

For this fixture they’ll try to control the game but playing away they are struggling a lot: only 3 victories so far, two of them against weak teams such as Mallorca or Cadiz (in relegation zone).

Betis will be happy with a draw here and they’ll be looking for that, with a defensive game and a slow-paced one. But I expect Atletico to make a strong performance since the first minute, with motivation and players giving their best to avoid more problems. Atletico can’t afford another awful performance, and if they perform at 100%, they should win as they have much more quality than Betis, especially with this amount of missings and important players unavailable.

One last thing: this is a difficult stadium for Betis. Their last victory here was in 2011. Atletico has won 10 of the last 11 games, with one draw (in 2018).
