Japan is the biggest candidate to win this tournament, no doubt about that. The team is in amazing form. Since June, they have won all 10 matches in all competitions. During that run, they won against Germany, Turkey, Peru and Canada.. The last 4 matches (against Myanmar, Syria, Thailand and Jordan) were won by at least 5 goals difference. Form is huge. The quality and potential in their squad is outstanding. The Japanese want to start the tournament well and I expect another huge win today. Just a quick reminder - at the World Cup Japan won against Spain and Germany and have been knocked out of the tournament by Croatia (bronze medal) after penalty kicks. Now it looks like they are even in better shape and for sure, they are a more experienced team than a year ago.

Vietnam is on a totally different level in comparison to Japan. They are a team without experience - 23 of the 26 players in the team are under 30 years old. Most of them play in the poor Vietnamese league (outside the top10 in Asia). In addition to that, Vietnam came to this tournament without first goalkeeper Van Lam, team captain Ngoc Hai and their top scorer Tien Linh. It's a huge blow and should have a very bad impact on their performance. In October, Vietnam played against South Korea (a team at a similar level to Japan) and lost 0:6. I expect a similar scoreline today.

Team with many players from European leagues and players from J1 League, which is one of the strongest in Asia, shouldn't have any problems with poor Vietnam today.
