For Lugano and Besiktas, the Europe train will stop one last time. Lugano have not managed to snatch access to the sixteenth finals of the third continental competition, but they hope to close their adventure at seven points, more than decent loot, in the hope of returning as soon as possible to tread the European stage.

Lugano will have to deal with a rather short squad (Bottani, Osige and Valenzuela, Aliseda, Grgic are injured, Mahou is not qualified) and with the fatigue of an autumn full of commitments on three fronts (championship, Cup and Conference).

The positive aspect is that it will face a team already beaten in the first leg, with a resounding comeback in the final minutes that had helped to write one of the most glorious pages in the history of Lugano.

Besiktas, on the other hand, are one of the historical clubs of Turkish football, used to compete on a par with Galatasaray and Fenerbahce and to flirt with Europe with a custom completely unknown to Lugano (it is no coincidence that it has won the national title 14 times and the Turkish Cup ten times).

Besiktas will present themselves in Zurich with a modified formation after putting out five usual starters of the lineups. Besiktas are a big club and certainly will not want to close this group stage in a sad way.

I think Besiktas might eventually win the match and finish at the third place because it’s a big shame for a big club like them to be the last.
