Qualifiers last round. Both teams are qualified but will fight for the 1st position to secure access to Group 2, which is preferable to Groups 3 or 4 for advancement to the EURO Group stage.

At the moment, Romania is at the top and deservedly so, as they have been the best team in the group. They are unbeaten in the 9 rounds played (5 wins, 4 draws) with only 5 goals conceded. Switzerland has a balance of 4 wins and 5 draws but has conceded double the number of goals.

Romania has been performing exceptionally well in the Qualifiers and is now strongly positioned to clinch the first position thanks to their confidence, motivation, and home support. A draw would be enough for them to secure the 1st position.

They are coming from two consecutive victories against Israel and Andorra, so their confidence is high. Valentin Mihaila is suspended due to a red card against Israel, but the rest of the team is available. Coach Edward Iordanescu will use the same lineup as last time, with George Puscas leading the attack and Nicolae Stanciu as captain.

On the other hand, Switzerland has been a bit disappointing for me. They are struggling a lot to win games recently, having achieved it only once in their last 6 matches: against Andorra. They drew against Israel, Kosovo (twice), Belarus, and Romania. Edmilson Fernandes is suspended for this fixture.

Their main problem is in defense, as they have managed to keep a clean sheet only three times in 9 rounds: against Andorra, Israel, and Belarus. The fans and press are very disappointed with the team, which has been performing poorly, so the atmosphere in the national team isn’t the best.

Although Switzerland has more quality, Romania has been performing much better in these Qualifiers. They are full of confidence, and I don’t see them suffering their first (and only) defeat in the last game, especially in front of more than 50,000 fans, and losing the first position, which is crucial.

The previous game finished 2:2, but Switzerland had chances to win at least 4 or 5:0. However, they showed why they are second in the group and won only 1 game out of the last 6, failing to secure the match, missing many chances, losing concentration in defense, and conceding two late goals which affected their morale.

Given the current form and motivation of both teams, I don’t see Romania losing here.
