In my opinion Blackburn have really good chances to make win in today's match up.

Last match between both teams been played in January, Blackburn trashed Sheffield on away 5:0! For sure they have big mental advantage before today's game. Blackburn as well won last two home matches against Sheffield - 4:2 two years ago and 2:1 in previous season.

Blackburn today with almost best possible line up, only one important player is unavailable - left winger Ben Brereton (3 goals and 3 assists in 15 matches), but that shouldn't be problem because top offensive stars like Elliot or Armstrong will play today.

Sheffield today have huge squad problems - key central midfielder Luongo, key central defender Borner, key striker Marriott and key central defender Iorfa are still unavailable. In addition to that 3 key players which played in previous round - Windass(best scorer), Bannan (best assistant and captain) and Harris (winger) have missed training this week. Manager Tony Pulis said: “They’ll all want to play, I know that for a fact. It’s just up to me making a decision from the medical side. What we don’t want to do is play three players, lose them after 20 minutes and then have them out for four or five weeks.” That is big blow for the team, that should have bad impact on their performance today. Sheffield will have problems in defense and in offense.

Sheffield defense is unstable at the moment - they conceded more than one goal in 4 of last 5 matches (4 losses in the process), on the other hand they have problems with creativity - they scored in last 5 matches only 3 goals and only in one match they had expected goals scored number above 0.89. In last round they won at home 1:0 against Coventry, but that wasn't convincing - they finished with less shots than opponents and had only 39% ball possession. Sheffield lost last 3 away matches in a row - 3 times they conceded more than one goal and scored only once.

Blackburn don't have problems with goalscoring - 34 goals in 20 matches so far, only Bournemouth scored one goal more. In last 4 matches in a row their expected goals scored number was above 1.08. Striker Adam Armstrong is in amazing form, he scored 15 goals - 4 goals more than all Sheffield team so far. Blackburn in December played 3 home matches - they won after close match 2:1 against Millwall, they lost 1:2 against Norwich City (leader of the table) and they won 2:1 against Rotherham. In last round Blackburn lost 0:1 on away against Stoke, but that wasn't deserved result - expected goals scored for Blackburn 1.08, for Stoke 0.53.

Both clubs going in different direction - Sheffield will fight to avoid relegation, Blackburn wants to fight for place in Premier League, so they have to win such a matches against lower rank opponents.

Blackburn star midfielder Dack signed new contract, he said: ''I’m delighted to commit my future to the club. I’ve made no secret that I want to play in the Premier League and signing this deal shows that I feel this club can get there. I feel this squad is more than capable of getting promoted and hopefully I can add to that.”

Blackburn should be able to control middle zone without too many problems - their average ball possession in current season 58.6% (second-best in league), Sheffield only 43.7% ( second-worst in league). Because of that hosts should have a lot of chances to score a goals - Blackburn have 5.8 shots on target per game (the best result in league), Sheffield only 2.6 (the worst result in league).

I believe Blackburn have all tools to beat poor, depleted Sheffield today.
