A big derby, big odds too?

So far the promoted Alaves side have been good at home and won their both two home games, and poor on their travels as they have lost all three games without scoring, and even not without creating much as you can see from the picture below.

It is not easy to visit the Basque country, but what about fellow Basque teams?

The hero of the Alaves promotion this spring was striker Asier Villalibre who was on loan from today's visitors Bilbao. Today he is likely starting from the bench.

Bilbao season so far has been decent:

At home there is an expected loss to Real Madrid in an even game, they have visited another almost Basque team Osasuna, and Mallorca without conceding a goal. The latest match vs Cadiz was a proper show and the 3-0 scoreline flatters the Cadiz side, who are more or less class-wise equal with Alaves, both will fight for survival.

It is also remarkable that it took Bilbao more than 60 minutes to score the first goal, and by that time they had already created goal expectation worth of three goals. They created 20 shots, and from the start showed to be totally on a different level to Cadiz.

There are no new or important absentees at either side. Nico Williams missed already the match vs Cadiz, and as mentioned he was not badly missed, in fact it seems that the coach Valverde is lucky to have positive problem which striker on fire to choose, Goruzeta or Villalibre?

Bilbao might fight for an European spot, Alaves would be more than happy to be 17th, and winning the home games is a crucial part of that plan, but as Bilbao are at home in the Basque country this is not at all a hostile environment for them and we can go with the better team tonight, and I see Bilbao winning this one, without conceding as I struggle to see Alaves as a real threat.
