Waterford were much disappointed by Monday night’s draw against Treaty United at the Market’s Field.

The Blues were cruising in Limerick with a 2-0 lead before being pegged back by Treaty for a 2-2 draw.

Head coach Keith Long wants the squad to bounce back this Friday. “We were poor and very flat in the game. We were 2-0 up in the game and we’re disappointed with the goals we conceded. We have to dust ourselves down and not feel sorry for ourselves. It’s important to regroup and get ourselves organized now because we know that Athlone have some really talented players who can punish us.”

Athlone Town are kind of nervous after last weekend’s defeat against Wexford. It means they are just six points clear of Longford with eight games to play. If they lose today, with Longford set to play on Saturday that gap could be closed to three as early as this weekend.

Athlone have a good attack but they are weak at the back. Waterford are much better structured.
