Ajax should win here.

First game ended 1-2 for Roma, but was a very lucky and undeserved result.

Roma were totally dominated, Ajax outplayed them completely, but failed to score the second goal while the italian team scored due to a blunder of the goalkeeper after a corner. Their season has not been great, they are right now out of european spots in the Serie A.

Their last performances have been pretty weak, especially in the league where they lost vs Napoli and Parma, drew vs Sassuolo and suffered a lot to win (undeservedly as well) this weekend 1:0 vs Bologna.

Roma has a problem at the back, are conceding many goals and their defence is not solid. This problem use to be solved by scoring more goals than the rival, but when the opponent is strong this isn’t the solution to win the matches.

Ajax is a very strong side, dominating the Eredivisie with 11 points advantage and totally focused on this competition. In the first game they deserved to win, while also playing well and won both games against the previous rivals: Young Boys (3:0 and 0:2) and Lille (1:2 and 2:1).

Remember that Ajax comes from Champions League, where ended 3rd below Liverpool and Atalanta in the group stage.

I’m expecting a very open game here. Both teams have some missings at the back, but I see Roma weaker as they will miss Smalling, Spinazzola, Kumbulla and Perez. Ajax need to score at least two goals to qualify and will try to score them, while Roma will be happy with an open game as always.

If the match goes open, it will be good for the team with more quality and experience, which undoubtedly is Ajax here. In the first game they deserved to win and were better than Roma so I’m expecting here an away win.
