Kalmar, who finished 4th last season, is struggling in this campaign. They qualified for the Conference League playoffs, where they lost this midweek, confirming that they are now fully focused in the league because they won't participate in the Conference League this season as they lost against Pyunik 1:2 twice.

This is good because they don't have a squad able to compete in both competitions. The half (3) of the games lost during the whole league (6) were in the last weeks, when the team was focused in the Conference League games against Pyunik.

Before that, they were performing pretty well, in the top5 positions as they were last season.

But now they have won just 1 game (against bottom Varbergs) in their last 5 league games, so this team has a lot of potential to improve, because European positions are a target again this year. And if they want to reach it, this kind of games against teams from the mid-low table at home are a must win.

AIK, although they are a strong team with a good budget, use to be a mid-table team. They have lost just one game of the last 5, which was against second in table - Hacken. Their victory last weekend meant AIK Solna moved further away from the relegation zone.

All AIK’s victories came against weak/relegation teams. They have won just 4 so far: Sirius (13th), Brommapojkarna (newcomer, 11th), Varberg (bottom) and Hammarby in April.

Last season they finished 5th, just one point below Kalmar. This year has a serious problem upfront, with just 15 goals scored in 17 games having the worst attack of the league, even less than bottom Varberg who scored 16.

They don't have any reliable striker, their topscorer is the portuguese striker Modesto who has scored just 4 goals so far (2 in the same game, against newcomers Brommapojkarna). Their two topscorers in the last seasons left the club in the summer transfer market and have no replacements yet: Stefanelli and Bahuoi. New manager Henning Berg is looking for reinforcements and in Cypriot Pittas the club is hoping to have found someone that can score goals.

I think this will be a tight game, but there’s no reason to see AIK favorite. They have won just 4 of 17 games, 3 of them against relegation teams, and surely they’ll be more than happy with a point here. They had a chaotic spring and are still trying to improve with new reinforcements. Hosts have much potential to improve, are in bad run and I believe they’ll improve a lot without Conference League games and are totally focused in the Allsvenskan.
