Firstly. China have reached the knockout rounds in all seven appearances at the Women's World Cup, but they have work to do if they are to maintain their 100% record. After beginning their campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Denmark, they received another setback when Zhang Rui was sent off in the first half against Haiti. The 2022 Asian Cup winners head into the final matchday in third position, but they are level with Denmark on points, goal difference and number of goals scored. Needing to match the Dane's result, China will need a massive performance if they are to overcome one of the tournament favourites.

Secondly. Although England have won both of their games at the Women’s World Cup so far, they still are not guaranteed a spot in the last 16, though they are on the brink. With six points from a possible six, England only need one more point to get over the line in Group D, and seal top spot. England have now kept clean sheets in their last three games on the bounce after managing just one in their previous six outings. The Lionesses were ranked fourth in the latest FIFA rankings and now sit 10 places above their midweek opponents. Chelsea's Lauren James has become a deadly weapon for the Lionesses, and I expect jer to make a difference in this meeting.

England are on a run of back-to-back victories and have lost just one game since September 2021. England have struggled to find their very best form in the opening two games, but they have still managed to pick up consecutive victories, and I expect that the English Women have the extra quality required to beat China.
