Haka host FC Lahti for this Finnish Veikkausliiga match at Tehtaan Kenttä Sunday evening Beijing time. This is the highest tier of Finnish football but it is - as a whole - of not great level by European standards. It has, however, improved quite a lot in the last approximately 10 years. Football fans and us serious football bettors can expect a match of poor level. Even by Veikkausliiga standards between these two lowly teams! Luckily for us the bookies make a lot of mistakes with their odds in Veikkausliiga matches!

Haka are currently the rock-bottom team in the standings and their season has been a catastrophe! Early season they were okay in some games but their level has been dropping for a long time now..They have not won any of their latest 13 games! What a horrible record is! They are, completely understand by, low in confidence. Furthermore, their fans have been very disappointed with the team and some fans have even been shouting ”Tainio ulos” (Tainio out). The players must feel enormous pressure at the moment.. Tainio, Haka's head coach, did very well last season and Haka ended up in 4th place. It was clear even before the season started that haka would be much worse this season but I do not think anyone would have expected Haka to be this bad! I have massively lowered their power rating that reflects the teams' pure class from the in-depth preseason analysis! Their defense has been incredibly leaky and they have allowed a stunning 31 goals in Veikkausliiga! Their defense lacks basically everything – skill, structure and confidence! Stupid individual mistakes are common and the midfielders do not take part in defending as much as they should. I do expect Lahti to score here - perhaps even many times despite the fact that their offense is among the worst in Veikkausliiga.. They have netted the ball just 13 times but their number of expected goals (xG) is 16.11.Haka have scored 18 goals but their number of xG is 17.01. 

Lahti are in 11th place in the league table with 14 points but their number of expected points (xPTS) is 16.16. The home advantage in Veikkausliiga is on average much smaller than in most European leagues. Haka do have potential to improve and are the favorites here but the current odds of around 1.85 offered by the biggest bookies with the largest stake limits are much too low! Lahti +0.5 goals is the obvious smart bet here with a 56% chance of winning. Haka will be missing Vigori Gbe, Anthony Herbert and Mehdi Boukassi. Lahti have a worst situation in terms of absentees but the bookies seem to give this factor too much emphasis, Djalo and Penninkangas are suspended due to too many cards. Järvenpää and Tauriainen are out too. Herts and Könkköla are probably out too. The teams last locked horns in June and Lahti won 1-0 at home. They had 60% ball possession and recorded more goal attempts (14-8), shots on and off goal, corner kicks, attacks and dangerous attacks. In their most recent match Haka were totally out of balance defensively and were crushed by VPS in Vaasa. 4-1 was the final score! Lahti, on the other hand, lost their most recent game 0-2 at home to IFK Mariehamn but this loss was an unlucky one. Indeed, Lahti had 53% ball possession and recorded more goal attempts, shots off goal, corner kicks, attacks and dangerous attacks! The bookies seem to give this match too much emphasis. Before this Lahti were good at home against SJK as big underdogs - it was a 1-1 draw and Lahti could even have won after recording more shots on goal. Furthermore, on the 8th of this month they beat HJK in Helsinki 1-0 after a solid performance! They had some luck on their side though. Let's remember that HJK played in the UEFA Europa League group stage last season and defeated a big Norwegian club, Molde, on Tuesday in an UEFA Champions League qualification clash!
