The visitors, on the other hand, are in the 8th place in this ranking. This is also their place in the league table. They have grabbed 40 points and their number of xPTS is 42.03. They have massively improved from last season when they were disappointing as a whole – no denying that. Indeed, they finished in 20th place with 42 points. However, I want to highlight that they were also unlucky as their number of xPTS was 48.14! They bookies seem to give last season's results way too much emphasis and keep on underestimating Kusatsu! 

Kusatsu did beat Blaublitz away from home last season 1-0. The teams locked horns in the opening round of the season and it was a goalless draw at Kusatsu's home stadium. Both teams recorded just one shot on goal in this clash..  A very low-scoring match by J2 League standards is on the cards today as well but the bookies, too, have realised this.. The draw is a pretty probable result here – with a probability of 34%. The biggest, sometimes relatively smart bookies see Blaublitz as solid favorites here – offering them odds of around 2.20 to win. I cannot agree with them and see the hosts only as very marginal favorites. This means that with the expected lineups the obvious smart bet is Kusatsu +0.5 goals! They have only a very small edge in terms of defensive quality - they have allowed 28 goals but their number of expected goals allowed (xGA) is a bit higher – 29.02 to be precise. Blauplitz, on the other hand, have conceded 29 goals and their number of xGA is 29.78. When taking a look at both team's offensive firepower we can see that Kusatsu are much better! They have netted the ball 32 in this league – the hosts, on the other hand, have been very lame offensively. They have scored just 23 goals so far in J2 League. This is the second-lowest number in this league. However they surely can improve in this area of the game and their number of expected goals (xG) is 26.03. Blaublitz have won just 3/12 games at home but this factor cannot be ignored, of course. Kusatsu have been mediocre on the road. They have been in good form lately avoiding a defeat in all of their latest seven games. 

In their most recent match Kusatsu faced a strong team Iwata, currently in 2nd place, as big underdogs according to the bookies but played well! Iwata were priced around 1.60 to take all three points.. This was yet another example of Kusatsu being undervalued on the betting market! The match was a pretty balanced one as a whole. Kusatsu recorded more shots on goal but Iwata had more scoring attempts and 53% ball possession. Both teams recorded 66 attacks. I was positively surprised by Kusatsu's performance despite acknowledging that fact that Iwata were not quite at their best.. Blaublitz have not been impressive at all lately and have not looked confident on the pitch in most of their recent games.. Indeed, they have won just two of their latest 12 games! They did, however, defeat Renofa Yamaguchi, 2-1 away from home in their most recent match in a match that the bookies saw as more or less as a coin toss without a favorite.. Quite interestingly the hosts had 70% ball possession and recorded more dangerous attacks. Blaublitz did, however, create more goal attempts. It was a rather low-level game as a whole and Blaublitz failed to really impress me.. Before this they were okay at home against Kumamoto, who are currently in 10th place, as solid underdogs on the betting market. However, Kumamoto played pretty badly in this game.. Furthermore, on the 5th of this month Kofu, currently in 4th place, crushed Blaublitz 5-1 and today's hosts looked awfully vulnerable defensively! They would probably have to improve at least a little – or get lucky – to beat the in-form Kusatsu in this clash..
