Crucial game for the ⅛ finals in this group, and I see China as favorites to achieve it.

China lost the opening game conceding a late goal at 89’ from a corner. They played pretty well, outplaying Denmark in several parts of the game, and they deserved at least a draw there.

They played with a very compact 4-4-2 system, leaving zero spaces to Denmark and being a very difficult side to break.

Asian champions China are technically very good, like to move the ball around and have quality players in forward positions, so I see them as a tough opponent for Haiti here.

Wang Shuang is China’s star and I’m sure Haiti is concerned about her. This match will be important especially for the offensive players, as I see China able to keep the goal to nil here thanks to their solid defence.

They need to move the ball more quickly and create more openings. I would like to see more of Wang Shuang who came on at half time and was successful in getting the ball into the box for their front two of Lou Jiahui and Wu Chengshu to attack. Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Tang Jiali is also an option.

Anyway, China will be strong going forward with these players, as they have plenty of quality upfront.

On the other hand, Haiti is one of the lowest-ranked teams (the 4th) in the tournament, lacking quality and experience at this level. Since the qualify to this WC, Haiti lost 6 of the 7 games played, winning only against Moldavia (#111 FIFA ranked).

They qualified after beating Senegal and Chile in the playoffs and it was Melchie Dumornay who was the star, scoring both goals in the final against Chile. The 19-year-old forward recently signed for Lyon, one of the top teams in Europe, so I expect her to be the star of the team.

A lot of the other players also play their club football in France, with captain Nerilia Mondesir and Batcheba Louis two more forwards who could pose a threat.

The team has struggled a lot to prepare for this tournament. They have no sponsors, and weren’t able to train or play at home due to the problems in Haiti.

In the previous round against England they gave a good fight to the current European Champions, losing only 1:0. That result was already a big success for the team, who has zero hopes of qualifying.

Their biggest strength is the pace of their forwards, headlined by Melchie Dumornay, which helps them to attack on the counter. But they will need to be more clinical if they need to get something out of this game. And seeing China’s strength in defense, I don’t believe Haiti will be able to create too much danger here.

China has much more quality, experience and pressure to win here. And after see the preparation of both sides, squads and performances in the first round, I believe that China is favorite to win and even to qualify to ⅛ finals.
