This is in many ways a similar pick to the earlier one I’ve posted for Belgian top division and the expected win of St.Liege. In Romania Division 1 the table gets “split” this weekend with the group of teams going further to fight for European cups and the other batch dropping to fight for survival.

As a matter of tradition, usually the teams chasing the last couple of spots in the “champions group” pick maximum points in the final few rounds. You can check for yourselves that last weekend Botosan, Academica Clinceni and Chindia Targoviste all simultaneously picked up wins against less motivated opponents.

All 3 go again tonight and, coincidently, they all have to face teams, who are below them in the table and have no European ambitions left.

What spices things up even further is Chindia’s head-to-head record against Botosani and Academica Clinceni - they are beating both of them in case of points being level. Both of those teams are within a win reach for Chindia and if one of them slips, Chindia will take over with a win against 9th placed Arges.

This puts Botosani and Academica into “must win” positions, basically. Of all 3 games, I feel that Botosani has the best chances of taking maximum points from their game. They were traded on -0.25 handicap last night and since this morning it’s been slowly but confidently going down and as this post goes out, Botosani have gone to -0.5 handicap at most Asian bookies.

I expect Botosani not to take any chances (i.e. hope Chindia does not win vs. Arges in the other game) and go for a win on the road vs. Voluntari.
