Relegation battle in the Allsvenskan, where I see hosts favorites.

Goteborg is a mid-table team who has started this new season struggling a bit. Just one victory in 13 games so far, with 11 goals scored. But their defense is not so bad: 16 goals conceded, the same as Hacken who is third. Varberg for example has conceded 26.

To solve their offensive problems they have signed the danish attacker Thomas Santos from AC Horsens. This was a decision made by the new coach Jens Askou, who has been coaching him in Horsens previously (his former club). He will be a good boost for the team and the offensive zone.

It’s important to find the goal again, because they have not scored a goal since 326 minutes ago.

In their previous game they drew 0:0 against Halmstad (6th placed) in a good performance where they had some chances, including a woodwork.

Goteborg, although is in really poor form, has much more potential and quality to be out of the relegation zone. Sooner or later they will start winning some games, gain confidence and be again a mid-table team as they have been in the recent year, without any relegation troubles.

On the other hand, Varbergs is the worst team in the league. They have the worst squad in the Allsvenskan (value is only 7MM euros, while Goteborg is 12.5MM euros). They changed almost the whole squad this season (previous year ended in relegation but won the playoffs, so achieved to stay in the Allsvenskan one more season) and the new transfers are very weak.

Furthermore, their manager Joakin Persson left the club last week (moved to Denmark). He was the main man in the club, as he was there for 6 years and achieved some big success, like avoiding relegation for a small team like Varbergs. No replacement has been confirmed yet, so the team will be without a head coach for this game (and this week, so the preparation for this game has been very poor) and probably will continue like this for a while.

They are the only team winless so far in the league, with only 5 points from 5 draws (3 at home) and they also have the worst attack numbers with just 8 goals scored so far.

Varbergs have lost 7 of their last 8 league games, achieving just a draw against Degerfors (1:1) they were totally outplayed with only 0.67 expected goals (xG) against 1.67.

Both teams are in bad form but Goteborg has much more potential, quality and ambition here. They have a great chance to achieve a victory here to gain confidence and start scaling positions in the table, against the worst squad of the league, with the worst results so far, without a coach andpreparation for this game, and lacking motivation/confidence.
