Blauplitz welcome Tochigi for this Japanese Emperor's Cup 1/32-finals clash at Soyu Stadium Wednesday evening Beijing time. The level of the J2 league is higher than some football fans probably realize. The visitors are also better than Blaublitz on counter attacks! 

Tochigi probably let the hosts control the ball here for most of the 90 minutes as they know have bad Blauplitz are offensively - and vulnerable if the visitors get fast counterattacks.. Tpchigi have scored 18 goals in J2 League so far this season but their number of xG is 21.65. I see the goal expectancy here as even lower than the betting market does. The probability of under 2.5 total goals to be scored is 71%. The probability of a draw is exceptionally high – 36% to be precise. This would be enough for my fans and me to win again with the recommended bet of +0.5 goals on the visitors well. The biggest, sometimes rather smart bookies offer the hosts odds of around 2.35 on Blauplitz to win in regulation time. This is definitely too low! I would not be a tll all surprised to see the odds on Tochigi to drop before the kickoff as smart money is expected to pile up on the visitors. I see this match as a coin toss – a 50-50% game – without a favorite. In their latest game they were beaten by Iwata away from home. The hosts took a comfortable 2-0 win after 68% ball possession. Blauplitz were - once again - very poor offensively and recorded just one shot on target. Before this they played at a decent level at home against Oita Trinita. However, no goals were scored.

Blaublitz are in the 17th place in my power rating that reflects the teams' pure class. The visitors, on the other hand, are in the 14th place in this ranking. Most of my fans probably know by now that I never let the standings fool me! Tochigi are currently in the 16th place with 20 points in their pocket. However, their number of xPTS is 26.24. In terms of defensive quality the teams are more or less equal despite the fact that the hosts have allowed four goals less than Tochigi in J2 League. Blauplitz do not have very enthusiastic fans by Japanese standards and I do not expect the atmosphere at the stadium to be very good today. However, the home advantage is still there. Blaublitz have been in decline lately. In fact they have been very poor recently and have failed to win any of their latest four games! Moreover, they have suffered a defeat in three of these four matches. Tochigi were not at their best in their latest game but took a point away from home against Fujieda through a 1-1 draw as clear underdogs according to the bookies. Before this they took a fine win at home over Okayama 2-1 again as clear underdogs on the betting market. This was yet another example of the bookmakers underestimating Tochigi!
