The race for the title in Belgium is more than interesting. There are 4 teams in the Championship Group and only Club Brugge has no chance of winning the title, while Antwerp, Genk and St.Gilloise have equal chances. Antwerp has taken over the top spot in the Belgian League after another win over Genk and now they are defending their position as the leading candidate for the title. They have only 1 point advantage, there are only 4 games left until the end and it is clear that the best chance for the title is the team that does not make a single mistake. Club Brugge lost both of their games in the final stage of the season as the team seems to be content with their position outside the top three. The poor games they showed under the leadership of Scott Parker cost them dearly and they entered this part of the season with too much of a gap behind other teams. Unlike them, Antwerp under the leadership of the famous van Bommel has been playing brilliantly throughout the season and they are deservedly in the race for the title. Their win against Genk was their 10th in their last 11 games. Although they may not score a lot of goals, it is very difficult to score against them. In the regular part of the championship, they conceded only 26 goals in 36 games played, and in the last 11 they conceded only 3 goals. They won the cup trophy a few weeks ago and they certainly want to win the double crown. Motivation will be a very important factor in this match, and that is exactly what Club Brugge will miss the most. The team is without any chance for a better ranking and it seems that the players can't wait for the season to end. They have a lot of problems in defense and their back line has proved out to be very easy to break down of late, especially in the matches against the stronger teams in the competition. An additional problem for them will be the absence of 2 very important midfielders, Buchanan and Nielsen, who had a big impact on the team's game during the season. Antwerp has been waiting for the title for almost 70 years and recently they have not been close to it. At the moment, they really seem like a much better team than Club Brugge and I believe that they will manage to achieve another victory and that way they will get closer to winning the title.
