Modena VS Parma
Modena welcome Parma for this Italian Serie B round 33 at Stadio Alberto Braglia early Saturday morning Beijing time. I have found yet another interesting match to bet on in this league that the bookies do not seem to know too well.. Modena currently occupy the 10th place in this league with a total of 20 teams. The teams who finish 3-4th will play in the Promotion Play Offs semi-finals after the regular season. Furthermore, the teams who finish 5-8th will play in the Promotion Play Offs quarter-finals. Modena, of course, still have a chance to make it to top-8 but this seems very improbable as they would have to topple better teams than them – who also have more points to their account. I am not quite sure if they believe in a top-8 themselves.. They are a small team in terms of players total market value according to a well-respected and famous German website, Transfermarkt.com. Indeed, their squad is valued at only around 17 million euros – low number by Serie B standards! However, I would say that the fair value is 19-20 million. The visitors’ squad have a total market of almost 46 million euros which is more or less correct in my view..
Parma are a traditional, pretty big Italian Serie A team that has suffered from financial problems during the past 10 years but are now gaining new momentum a club. they belong to the first trier and would not be at all surprised to see them make it to top-4 this season – and quite possible be promoted! They are currently in 7th place with 47 points. They have netted the ball 38 times in this league so far this season. Yes, they have bene a little disappointing offensively this season. Even so, their number of expected goals (xG) is 42.11. The hosts have score 42 goals but their xG is just 40.12. In this area of the game Parma only have small edge over to hosts. However, the potential for them to improve offensively is there – for Modena I do not see any potential.. In terms of defensive quality Parma are very much better than the hosts. Indeed, Modena have conceded 43 goals in Serie B so far – even Benevento, the rock-bottom team have allowed just 38 teams! They have not allowed a goal in two of their most recent games but I will not let this fool me! Yes, Modena beat Perugia, currently in 17th place, in their most recent match 1-0 away from home but were lucky to keep a clean sheet! Perugia did, after all, record 11 scoring attempts. Some weeks ago, Palermo crushed them 5-2 – in this match Modena’s defensive problems were easy for everyone to see! Parma’s defense is not elite in the league but does have a lot of individual skill and a pretty good structure. They have won two games in a row and are the favorites here with a 43% chance of winning.
