Italy didn't play in the World Cup and that was a huge blow for a team that won the previous European Championship. It shouldn't be questioned that the Italians are going to be very motivated.

Football wasn't coming home in the last World Cup. England lost to France in the quarterfinal and again the fans were disappointed although the performance all tournament long was good. Now they are playing against Italy but that hasn't been their best opponent in recent years. Last year, teams met twice in the Nations League, and Italy won on the home floor (1:0) while drew in England (0:0). We can't forget that teams met in the Euro 2021 final and the Italians won in penalties. What's even more - Italy plays very well at home as they haven't lost a single Euro qualifier game in front of their fans since 2006! Head-to-head record is also in favor of Italy as the country hasn't lost to England since 1961.

Italy is going to have the best possible roster as they have lost attacker Federico Chiesa, left-back Federico Dimarco and goalkeeper Ivan Provedel. Ciro Immobile and Giacomo Raspadori won't be able to help as well because of injuries. As for England, Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount and Nick Pope are out because of injuries and players like Ben White, Raheem Sterling, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Callum Wilson won't be available as well.

This is a very important game but it could be very defensive-minded. Both teams are without important players and that should draw their attention more to the defense. We can what is the head-to-head record, and Italy should be a little favorite here. In the Nations League, Italy had 2 wins and a loss at home while England drew 1 game and lost 2 on the road. I'm confident in saying that Italy is not going to lose this one.
