It’s the first Louth Derby. Drogheda United welcome neighbours Dundalk to Weavers Park on Thursday evening.

Drogheda United are usually considered as underdog in this derby. But they enter the game after a hard earned 1-0 away win over UCD last Friday night. They have been making an impressive start to the season, picking up eight points from their opening five games to lift them to fifth in the early Premier Division table and level with Dundalk in third place. They are defensively very solid.

Dundalk have been picking up form after losing 2-1 to Bohemians, then collecting seven points from their three games over the last seven days. They are traditionally the stronger side in this derby.

However, I think today Dundalk will find Drogheda a tough place to visit. Drogheda United players are increasing their confidence. They can at least get a draw.
