Right now Sevilla cannot compete with a strong team like Atletico.

Although Atletico is still far from their best level, lately are doing good performances and gaining confidence. In defense are conceding less than some months ago, while in attack are improving thanks to the good form of Griezmann, the signing of Memphis and the appearance of the youngster Barrios who is performing very well in the midfield.

Against weak or defensive teams is when Atletico use to show their worst version (Getafe, Almeria) but against the strong ones they are showing a good ability to control the games, making good performances and achieving victories (Athletic, Real Madrid). Now they are just 1 point below Real Sociedad, who is the rival for the third position which is their real target. Also they have just two points advantage with Betis, so can’t lose points if they want to maintain the Champions League position.

On the other hand, Sevilla is a terrible team. They have problems everywhere, the squad is short and weak, they lack confidence, their defense is horrible, they don't have a midfield able to control the games, while several players in the attack zone (Suso, Bryan Gil) are in bad form.

They have won only against weak-relegation teams (Mallorca, Elche, Cadiz, Getafe, Rayo Vallecano…), struggling a lot and showing a very poor level. Against Barcelona or Osasuna for example were totally outplayed without ideas to be competitive.

Next Thursday they will play in the Europa League against Fenerbahce, so who knows if players have their mindset in that game. Anyway, seeing their current level, I dont see them able to achieve something positive here against a strong team like Atletico who is also in good form.

Furthermore, have several key players out, especially in the defensive zone. Starter CB Bade and Marcao, while their most important player - defensive midfielder Fernando - is suspended. 2nd choice CB Rekik is also out due to an injury. Also have long term injuries of Papu Gomez and Tecatito.
