Crucial game for relegation.

Ibiza is at the bottom of the league with only 12 points after 18 rounds and 3 victories: 3-2 vs Lugo (scoring at 92’), 0:1 vs Oviedo (from penalty) and 1:0 vs Tenerife (own goal). In all of them they were outplayed.

The team tried with a change in the bench (again, this is the third one this season), but the new coach suffered another defeat in their debut against Zaragoza losing 2:1. The team improved, with a bit more danger upfront, but they continued with their problems at the back conceding (again) two goals and many chances. They were totally outplayed with just 25% possession.

They achieved just 2 points out of the last 30, so are in the worst possible form.

The main problem of this team is in the defense - they are conceding many chances and goals (worst defence of the league with 27 conceded), and the attack isn’t helping to achieve results because they have scored just 12. In the last 10 rounds: 15 goals conceded and just 4 scored.

If we look at stats of the league (in total); Ibiza is the team with less big chances created, less shots on target, less goals to nil and more goals conceded per game. With this statistics it’s impossible to win a game.

In a similar situation is Racing, a newly promoted team who started the season badly, then improved a lot 8 games unbeaten and just two goals conceded, and now are again in bad run with three defeats in a row.

Racing has problems upfront, are lacking goals a lot (just 9 scored) but have a very solid defensive system and it’s a difficult team to beat. With only 14 goals conceded, they have the 5th best defense of the league; with 5 goals conceded in the third three rounds of the season when they were adapting to this new category for them.

Anyway I think that this small bad run (3 consecutive defeats) its just a matter of luck. Against Burgos (lost 0:1) they missed a penalty from 0:0 while against Albacete (lost 2:1) received a red card just after scoring the goal for the draw.

In terms of quality, this is a total 50-50 game. But according to the whole season performances and even the last games played, Racing is in much better form and confidence. Ibiza will be nervous because they need a victory, but Racing will use a defensive system which has given them very good results during the last months. I see guests totally able to avoid defeat against a team who has shown that it is the worst of the league.
