Shamrock Rovers VS Derry City

Shamrock Rovers welcome Derry City at Tallaght Stadium in Dublin for this last round of Irish Premier League. This league is of pretty low-level by European standards but once again I have found an a great match to bet on for my fans and me! There is nothing left to play in this match as Shamrock have already secured the championship – again! They are the best team in Ireland and the 73 points they have grabbed so far prove this! Their goal difference is great – 58:22. The visitors are in second place with 66 points and will almost certainly finish in this place as they have 66 points to their account and a score difference of 53:25. Dundalk have three points less in the pocket but their goal difference is much worse. If teams finish on equal points at the end of the season, score difference will be the tie-breaker. Dundalk have no more matches left to play. I expect a pretty open and entertaining match here by Irish standards. In matches with nothing to play for the home team is often strong as we saw when Shelbourne crushed Drogheda 6-0 at home a few days ago in another match without anything to play for. Especially in UK and Ireland winning the last home match is very important. It is a ” thank you” to loyal fans. Both managers will probably rotate the squad here offering young, promising player a chance to shine. The host will probably rotate less though and do have a deeper squad anyway.

Shamrock are the better team in all areas of the game and I do not understand the odds offered by the bookies! They have a 52% chance of winning. The hosts fought well on Thursday against Gent, a good team from Belgium, in the UEFA Conference League and took a 1-1 draw as massive underdogs. Gent were priced around 1.50 to win by the bookies I must admit that they surprised me with their performance, especially in terms if very solid defense. They even had to play with 10 men for over 20 minutes as promising midfielder Justin Ferizaj, 17, was sent of in the 73th minute. A great performance indeed! This match will surely boost their confidence.. They also took another draw in this competition, also at home, against a good Swedish team, Djurgården. I think Derry City would not have been able to take any points in this group where Norwegian Molde is the 4th team.. Before this they crushed a pretty good team St. Patricks at home 4-1 and looked great especially offensively recording 23 scoring attempts and much more than the visitors in expected goals! Derry City have not lost a match for a long time but were disappointing in their latest two games.. They were very clear favorites in these games but failed to beat Shelbourne (1-1) at home last week and Sligo Rovers (0-0) six days ago. Their offense lacked pace, creativity and structure in these games. They must be quite disappointed not being to able to fight for the championship here..
