At the beginning of the season, Lyon exploded onto the scene and appeared to be vying for first place in the standings. However, their inconsistent play has put an end to any speculation of a top-two finish, as they enter this match having dropped five of their previous seven Ligue 1 games. However, they have only suffered a single home loss all season, a close 1-0 loss to PSG. The visitors are now in sixth place in the standings, five points ahead of Lyon. They have won three straight league games, largely as a result of their effectiveness in front of goal. In their first 12 league games, Lille have impressively scored 25 goals, which is their most goals at this stage of a season since they scored 26 in 1981–1982.Both teams have scored with regularity when Lille have been on the road this term and we certainly think that will be the case once again when these two lock horns on Sunday. However, we can’t see just the two goals being scored and will favour both teams to score with at least three strikes being produced in total. All in all, home team is with the new coach Laurant Blanc since few weeks, and his impact is visible. I think he is able to lift the big side of French football to the previous heights.
