The fourteenth-placed Darmstadt certainly cannot recreate the last season when they finished fifth. However, Anfang's men don't seem to deserve such a low placement, which they could prove with a triumph against Karlsruher. Three points would put Darmstadt in eleventh place, and I can see them delivering in the upcoming duel. Contrary to the hosts, after barely surviving the relegation last year, Karlsruher plays surprisingly well in the ongoing campaign. However, Eichner's squad failed to fulfill the expectations in the last few matches, and could be seen expanding the streak.

The home side will deal with only one absence, Mathias Wittek's, who has already missed almost the entire season. This is wonderful for a struggling squad, and proves the point of them being far better than the table shows.

On the flip side, the guests will have two absentees, Dominik Kother and Dirk Carlson. Karlsruher is coming from a 0-1 loss against Nurnberg. The game before, they conceded two against the second-worst league side, Sandhausen, and have drawn against thirteenth-placed Regensburg. Historically, Karlsruher had trouble scoring on Darmstadt's field. The only time they scored more than one goal was back in 2013, and with the mentioned recent results, I think they will fail to do so once again. Only one of Karlsruher's top-three goal scorers has scored in this side's previous seven duels.
