The 1st game between these teams showed just how big of a difference in class there is. The Israelian club has never made it this far in a European competition before and their participation in Europa League at this stage in February is an achievement alone. They were totally outplayed in the 1st leg 2:0 game, while Shakhtar probably gave 70-75% of what they could.

Ukraine champion is injury and suspension free before the 2nd leg fixture. Normally I would’ve been hesitant about tipping a team leading from 1st game 2:0 to win the return fixture. However, in Shakhtar’s case things should be different:

1) because they will be playing in front of fans. Ukraine government allows 50% of the stadium to be filled in Kyiv. And although I expect just 5000-6000 to show up, it is still an extra impulse for the players, who miss entertaining the fans and performing in front of a crowd;

2) Ukraine clubs need UEFA points to improve their table rankings. So another win has a lot of value in this perspective;

Shakhtar is showing good football at the moment. In Israel they had introduced an untypical high pressing approach, which had led to occasional trouble in defense, but at the same time helped the team create a fair amount of chances at the offensive end.

Shakhtar to win the the 2nd game against a significantly weaker opposition in a “must risk” condition is a good call by all means.
