AFC Wimbledon VS Northampton Town

AFC Wimbledon host Northampton for this English League Two round 9 clash at Plough Lane in London early Wednesday morning Beijing time. This is the fourth tier of English football. Understandably skilled players are rare in this league but this the best fourth-highest level in the World. Most teams play simple and physical – one could say “traditional” English football. Players are expected to fight for every ball and a lot of emotions, sometimes pretty harsh tackles and heated displays can be seen on the pitch in this league.. The bookies definitely have the wrong favorite here! In my opinion Northampton have a 42% chance of winning with today’s expected lineups. They are the stronger team in all areas of the game! Northampton have been much better in this league so far this season and currently occupy the 5th place in the standings and have a good goal difference of 14:10. They have grabbed 14 points and have lost just once. Wimbledon, on the other hand, currently occupy the 15th place in the standings and have taken just eight points and have only two wins under their belt. For some reason the bookies still respect them way too much.. Perhaps one reason is the fact that they played in League One last season but ended up having a bad season and finished second-last with just 37 points and allowed a whopping 75 goals. The atmosphere within and around the team is not great according to my sources and the Wimbledon’s fans have been somewhat frustrated in in recent weeks. In their most recent match against Stockport away from home they were very lame, especially offensively and were able to shoot just once on the hosts’ goal. Stockport also recorded more ball possession as well as passes, completed passes, goal attempts, attacks and dangerous attacks. Wimbledon looked pretty unorganized on the pitch, and many players seemed to lack confidence. On the 30th of August they did beat Aston Villa U21 in EFL Trophy but did not really convince me and were very clear favorites in this clash according to the betting market. Before this they were very poor offensively and lost 0-1 against Barrow at home as favorites recording just two shots on goal. Northampton, on the other hand, comfortably beat Barrow 3-1 at home in their most recent match. The only defeat they have suffered in this league happened some two weeks ago at home against Doncaster 0-1 but they would have deserved at least a point. Northampton reportedly have a very good team spirit and things look promising for them moving forward!
