Lazio's season start has been a bit surprising, especially as they also beat Inter Milan. The results don’t correspondent to their squad’s depth. Lazio's attackers are now much older and the center back duo Romagnoli + Patric is less than reassuring, not to mention the fact that Cataldi is a mediocre playmaker.

There is a possibility that Lazio's results are inflated. Only once had they gotten 10 points from the first 4 rounds in the last 10 years, under the management of Simone Inzaghi. A win today would allow Maurizio Sarri to equal his predecessor's best result, although such an opening result is not particularly meaningful.

Sampdoria’s head coach Giampaolo and Sarri are good friends. Sarri recommended Giampaolo to Empoli when Sarri left the squad to coach Napoli, and that season was an important year for Giampaolo's resurrection, after he had been forgotten by Italian football for a while.

Sampdoria are not as bad as they were in the last round when they lost to Salernitana, they even held Juventus to a 0-0 draw, completely cutting off the opposition's attacking routes. I think they will be more serious today as well.
