Goteborg has received a lot of criticism for not getting what they should from their player material, but while everyone was thinking about the top five consisting of Hacken, Djurgarden, Malmo, Hammarby and AIK, Goteborg has actually hung on quite well. Goteborg plays good football in recent months and veteran Markus Berg is scoring like in old days, he is the league's second-leading striker. Goteborg will most recently come from a double meeting with Norrkoping, which were grateful matches to get in this situation of the Norrkoping crisis. They won both games 2-0, and the talented Kevin Yakob scored a goal in each game. Now Goteborg faces Varbergs, in a West Coast derby. That Varbergs even plays in the Allsvenskan is a great achievement, and that year after year they manage to hang on fairly comfortably is even more remarkable. The team is currently in 12th place, with a full seven points down more than the last team in the relegation zone. A clear trend in Goteborg's results this season has been that they lost against the top teams, but managed to get the job done against the on paper worse teams. We think it will continue in that way, which would mean a victory against little Varbergs. Goteborg has a better defence than the hosts and I think Varbergs slow transition from attack to defence will allow Goteborg's players a lot of space in the final third, which their quality strikers should exploit.
