AC Oulu vs HJK

AC Oulu welcome HJK from the capital city of my home country, Helsinki, at Raatin Stadion for this Finnish Veikkausliiga clash. This is the highest tier of Finnish football. The level is not high by European standards but for Veikkausliiga standards this match should be of quite good quality and offer decent entertainment. Indeed, HJK are the best team in Finland despite the fact that KuPS from Kuopio currently top standings. Both teams have 36 points to their account. However, HJK played a late evening, high-level match in Slovenia against Maribor in the UEFA Europan League qualification on Thursday - Friday morning Beijing time that is. HJK were in quite a lot of trouble in the first half but played an excellent second half scoring two goals and winning 2-0 as underdogs according to the betting market. I must say this was the best match they have played this season. The win got a lot of media attention - even praise - in the Finnish media. Maribor were the better team in this match though recording more ball possession, scoring attempts, shots on target, attacks and dangerous attacks.The win has clearly affected the odds here. HJK's odds have been coming down and are now too low - especially in +1.5 goals handicap betting.The recovery time for HJK is far from optimal here. HJK have a long list of (long-term) injuries as some of my fans probably know at this point. There has also been flu within the and the line up for today's match is not clear at the time of writing this. One thing is sure though - HJK's coach Toni Koskela will not field his best players here - at least not for the full 90 minutes. Even, so HJK are of course clear favorites here but Oulu have 66% chance to avoid losing by more than one goal's difference.

AC Oulu are having a positive season and currently occupy the 6th place in the standings with 24 points but have played one game less than the two teams that are ahead of them in the standings. By winning this they could take 4th place! They have not been quite at their best lately though but played okay in Seinäjoki vs SJK but lost 2-3 last Sunday. Before this they beat IFK Mariehamn 3-1 at home and Ilves 2-0 away from home. Let's also remember that Oulu beat HJK this season in Helsinki - as well as in Oulu last season! Overall, they have quiter a good record against mighty HJK. AC Oulu will be forced to defend here but with a big home crowd to boost them a draw would not surprise me too much here..
