Alaves relegated themselves by slipping on banana peel, basically. Not many would have thought they would lose to already relegated Levante, especially after taking the 1st half lead. But Alaves confirmed their status of the weakest team in LaLiga this season, but turning over the lead to an eventual 1-3 defeat and a ticket to Spanish 2nd division.
I do not think Alaves will have the mentality or quality to go down Levante’s path and finish the unfortunate season on a high note (Levante found a way to win their last 2 games even despite being officially out of the competition).
For Cadiz this is a do or die affair and they have to take nothing but 3 points to make a strong bid to stay in LaLiga for next season. It is a shame to see the team in the position they are in now as they recorded a few memorable results in the past few months, like the away 1-0 win against Barcelona or 1-1 draw vs. Sevilla.
Cadiz were all over Real Madrid last round but simply could not convert the enormous advantage. Had they pulled off a win, this trip to Alaves would’ve been a formality.
Cadiz will be looking over at the scoreline of the Osasuna-Mallorca game, where their main rival for the life spot will be trying to take maximum points. But regardless of the result in Pamplona, I believe, Cadiz will prefer to take no risks and go for a win
Odds are more than generous for an away win given the motivation difference and diverse mood state in both camps.
